Agency History

Chrysalis House, Inc. was founded by Josie-Lee Kuhlman with a clear vision: to create and support families locally and around the world. Inspired by the word chrysalis—a symbol of transformation—she believed in the power of new beginnings and the lifelong impact of a loving home.

With decades of experience in social work, theology, and community leadership, Josie-Lee dedicated her life to children and families. Her work spanned from missionary service in the Philippines to leadership roles in New York, Los Angeles, and San Francisco. In 1985, she founded Chrysalis House to ensure every child has the opportunity to blossom in a Forever Family.

For Josie-Lee, and for us, life is truly a family affair.
